Lent is a wonderful time to acknowledge the spirit of God within ourselves, and the Spirit of God with whom we all encounter. When we acknowledge God within others and within us we will start to treat others and ourselves with a greater respect and caring.
Our feature rosary during the Lenten season is the We Are One Body rosary. The We Are One Body rosary reminds each of us that we are the same to God. He created each and every one of us and loves each of His creation with a love that far surpasses the love we show one another. As Christian’s we are to use Lent as a time to be abstinent and give up something we desire for forty days. Whenever we encounter that item we have chosen to give up, we are reminded to pray and prepare ourselves spiritually for the Lord. Take this time to thank God for our wholeness in Him using the item or action we have chosen to give up as a reminder to pray the rosary. For ideas and prayers during your Lenten Journey, the Loyola Press has prepared a wonderful daily calendar to bless you with prayers and thoughts each day of Lent. Meditate on the prayers and use them when you are reminded of the thing you are giving to the Lord for these forty days.
Here are two beautiful prayers to consider when you take a moment to reflect upon the Lord and pray the Rosary.
Let us not forget our featured passage from 1 Corinthians 12 reminding us that We Are One Body in the Lord. 12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body — whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free — and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. Our sacrifice this Lenten season is nothing compared to His ultimate sacrifice on the cross. We are reminded everyday that our ultimate goal is to work together to grow His kingdom. We are the same to God; we are one body in front of the Lord. Let us use our rosary prayers this Lenten season to remind us that We Are One Body in front of the Lord.
O gracious Master, Infuse in our hearts the spotless light of Your Divine Wisdom. Open the eyes of our mind that we may understand the teachings of Your Gospel. Instill in us also the fear of Your blessed commandments, so that having curbed all carnal desires, we may lead a spiritual life, both thinking and doing everything to please You. For You, O Christ, our God, are the enlightenment of our souls and bodies; and to You we render glory, together with Your eternal Father, and with Your all holy, life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and forever. Amen
Lord, I’m not always eager to do your will. I’d often much rather do my own will. Please be with me on this Lenten journey and help me to remember that your own spirit can guide me in the right direction. I want to “fix” my weaknesses but the task seems overwhelming. But I know that with your help, anything can be done. With a grateful heart, I acknowledge your love and know that without you, I can do nothing. Amen
